Week 4 at the MTC

Here is Kaitlyn's email this week:

Hola!!

Let's see...this week was good, I think? I don't really remember, but like every other week it has its ups and downs.

Oh, it was kind of sad, we had a ton of goodbyes this week. Our favorite Elders left for Peru :(. our district isn't the same now. It feels like they have been gone forever :( but I guess its kind of a good thing because now we get a lot more done in class and play less games. But they were so much fun to goof off with.
Oh funny story, so the other day on of our Elders came up to us and was like "Do you ever get annoyed of Elders talking about you Sisters?" And we were like "Huh? People are talking about us?" And he was like "You didn't know there is a rumor about our district?" Apparently our district is referred to as "The Blessed District," because we have 3 pretty Sisters and Hermana Keller, our teacher is "Hot." Its the big rumor of the Elders residence hall, I guess! LOL! All our *Zone Leaders were shocked we hadn't heard about it...awkward little boys...

We said goodbye to our roommates too, which is sad. Some of the other Tongan sisters snuck in a bottle of sparkling cider which took us a half hour to open and when we finally got it open we made a mess! Apparently we were too loud because our cranky, stinky-feet neighbor came over and told us to shut up. She's the hall monitor, except nobody appointed her that.
I understand the prison jokes more than ever now. There are signs every two feet telling us what we can and cannot do. Sometimes when we are feeling rebellious we chew bubble gum in our room! Rebels, right?

So we have had a little drama. One day during gym time there were these new sisters playing foursquare. We knew they were new because there are only about 8 sisters that have our same schedule. We let them play foursquare with us and normally we are not competitive, considering it's foursquare. Usually we just make up weird rules like: you can only hit the ball with your elbow or hip. That way the Elders that see us playing don't want to join :). But the new sisters came over and one of them came up to me and said, "NOMBRE, NOMBRE, NOMBRE!!" Hitting herself on her name tag. So I said, "Uh...mi nombre es Hermana Norton?" And she said, "No! You need to take off your name tag during gym and put it in the cubby, Sister!"
Now, I know this shouldn't have upset me, but I really, really, really don't like being told what to do. It took everything in me not to take everyone's name tags and stick them on my shirt and say "NOMBRE THIS!!" Anyway, so this is just the beginning of the foursquare bullies...
So then her little friend is playing with us and is all serious and they were trying to speak Spanish, but they know about 3 words so they would huck the ball at our feet and say "Muerte - you're out!!" Which means "Death?" They were evil!!
So the next day we get to gym and they have the foursquare ball and Muerte Girl is sitting on it while they all stretch...yep, stretching for foursquare. So we were like, "Fine!" So we got a volleyball to play foursquare and made up our own awesome game of "Millionsquare" which consists of a bunch of Elders and us standing in random squares and it's impossible to get out and you can't use your arms...so we look stupid. So really it was their loss!!
Yes, I realize this story makes me sound like I am in 4th grade but that is how it was! I am so thankful for my companions, I think there are about 4 other normal sisters in the whole MTC.

Lets see...oh we had some funny TRC's (volunteers to help them learn) this week, LOL!! Good news is my Spanish is getting better!!! So they never inform us when we are teaching until like five minutes before. *They're like, "Oh hey, you have a teaching appointment, the background is: They believe God is in the trees and everywhere and they hate missionaries, oh and they heard about *Joseph Smith and they read a book on polygamy...now go teach them the Restoration and the Plan of Salvation in Spanish." Fan-Freakin'-Tastic.
Considering our Spanish consists of random conjugated verbs, it's gets pretty entertaining. And our teacher watches from a camera in the back, laughing her head off. So we go in there and we have to pretend this kid is a girl named Ariel. Basically we throw out verbs with different endings until they respond correctly, LOL. So we're trying to say "Will you pray?" (Quieres Orar?) But it sounds like this for five minutes: "Ora? Orara? Ore? Orare? Oraria? Orereria? Orarararaia?" All while the investigator gives us the most confused look, LOL! So Krambule got the guts up to say something and she said, "JesuCristo..." and we waited, and waited and then nothing else came out. About five minutes later she was like, "Si," LOL! And we had nothing to say but "Si" for about 10 minutes, our teacher was practically peeing her pants.

We had a lot of good *devotionals and *LGM's this week. one was by my *Stake President Littlefield of my old *Singles Ward and he called me out. Um, I don't have time to tell the whole story, maybe next time!

On a spiritual note, I think it's funny that other churches put signs up saying, "Don't read the Book of Mormon, that's how they get you." Duh, it's because it's true. There is no way any person could read the *Book of Mormon and know it wasn't true. I've never been more sure this is the true church of Jesus Christ. I've never had a stroner testimony and had a stronger relationship with my Heavenly Father. I'm so thankful to be here.

Love,

Kaitlyn
