Weekly Email 10/19/2010

Hola!

We had probably the best fireside we've ever had here. It was about learning to love your companion. The speakers were Brother and Sister Beeson who work here. They spoke really quick and then called all their grown up kids, who had gone on missions to speak. Their entire family had the funniest sense of humor we all could not stop laughing. It was just what I needed to hear.
So Sunday nights our district kind of has a tradition where we all are disobedient and ditch the movie to go hang out with whatever district is leaving the next morning and take pictures and stuff. So this week our favorite district left. They are all the ones who we have inside jokes with and we play volleyball with everyday. Their classroom is right next to ours. So it was sad. Anyway we took a bunch of pictures and then they decided to sing cause all of their district sings pretty well, especially Elder T. (The brother of my old roommate.) So we all sang a few goodbye hymns in Spanish and right after some of the Elders in that district starting bearing their testimonies. The tiny room and hall was packed with probably 60 missionaries who are in our zone. I got most of it on video but I stopped when the testimonies started. It was really cool to hear some of their testimonies and see them break down and cry and give advice to the younger ones. They have grown up so much and are finally understanding why they all made a promise together to not go home early. It was probably my favorite night at the MTC. Something about the fact that on our own we sang and had a testimony meeting that was so genuine was touching and the spirit was really strong. We are going to miss them. They all wrote in our journals before they left. I got one love note...I think...it didn't really make sense, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt because he's from Canada. :)

I can't think of anything funny that happened this week - maybe that means we are getting better at Spanish. We always have substitutes and they are amazed without district's Spanish. I guess we are way ahead of where we should be so that is cool and fun to hear. Oh - so earlier this week we were having a pity party about Spanish and my companions and I were wondering how much we were going to be humbled once we got to the field when people started talking fast because we were all convinced the teachers all probably slow down a little when they talk to us. We kept wondering and we thought about asking them if they slow down but we knew that they would just tell us not to worry about it and give us a scripture and that gets really old. Just answer the frickin' question! So later that day we got to our tutor (who by the way, is totally our old hot teacher...) and the second we walk in he is like, "I just wanted to tell you guys how impressed I am with your Spanish and I feel like I should tell you I don't slow down at all for you and you have nothing to worry about once you get out there." Weird huh? LOL I love how quickly God gets back to us.

So not gonna lie we never went to the tutor before it was Hermano H...and half the time I'm saying in my head, "Kaitlyn pay attention stop checking out the teacher, he's not checking you out, he is too righteous." Its depressing and distracting. There are a few hottie teachers here and it sucks, they don't give us any attention and it's humbling LOL.

So I need to stop writing about hot teachers because my normal teacher Hermano G the only one who had been our teacher from the beginning, constantly has asked that once we get to the field we forward our emails to him...

I don't know if I have mentioned that my teachers are Hermano G and Hermana K. But we have got to know all the teachers in the zone because they have all subbed for us.

Ok, I'm out of time - I love you!

THIS IS THE LAST P-DAY, next one I will be packing - yay!

Bye!

Kaitlyn
