First email from Arizona!!

Kaitlyn got to email today! Its a lot sooner than we were expecting!

HOLA!!!!!!!
I'm surprised I get to email already!

So after we got of the plane, since I was the only sister, my companion was the President's wife and the President so all the elders were in a van and I drove separate with the President lol..Little awkward but I got to know them really well.

There are 194 missionaries in this mission. 20 something Spanish speaking. 8 Hermanas. 4 zones of Spanish speaking. So I guess it's pretty predictable where you will go next and who your companion will be.

So anyways our first two days in Tempe, it was BEAUTIFUL with palm trees and orange trees and it was 95 degrees and I even got a little sun. We went to the Tempe which is beautiful!! And we ate at a members house and had a ton of meetings and then I went to this old lady's house overnight. Both of us were asleep by 7:45 lol I was pooped. In the morning she made the worlds largest breakfast with everything in the world and expected me to eat it all. She ate like two little slices of banana and then was like, 'Oh sister I can't finish this, I need you to eat all 5 billions bananas and 9 glasses or orange juice or they will go bad because my husband died and I can't eat all of this'...I felt like I was going to puke, my gag reflex was struggling but I felt so bad! Especially when her poor frail arm took the effort to pick up the orange juice to fill my cup AGAIN then I felt obligated to drink it. I never want breakfast again.

Anywho sooo Yep after loving the warm weather I got sent to the mountains. I literally live in a small cabin in the middle of the forest lol I will take a picture lol. It's pretty cold, I slept with my coat on. We have 28 members in our branch (Spanish branch) many don't really know the gospel that well so we are having to reteach them as well. Most of our investigators and members live in a trailer park. Last night was an adventure lol...Like 3 of the people we had appointments with weren't home or yelled that they weren't home or turned of their light when we knocked!

Then one investigator answered, but we couldn't be alone with him, there had to be 3 males to 2 sisters so we called Hermano R who is in the ward. HE IS AMAZING. He does missionary work on his own. He's older and not married and he loves the gospel he was sooo awesome last night he like took over the lesson and got the guy laughing. I understood 80 percent of the lesson. The man's Spanish was really mumbled and fast I was glad he didn't ask me any questions. Next appointment was so cool... It's this family who is SOOO prepared. We got there and they had us sit on the couch and they pulled up chairs across the couch and had their Books of Mormon with all the kids and family there! The little 2 year old toddler was the cutest thing I have ever seen. He pulled a liter of coke off the table and chugged it while he stood there in his little diaper and then burped and then was off the walls for the rest of the lesson lol. They have 6 little kids. One of the little girls is about 7 and is learning to read so she helped us read the Book of Mormon.

Seriously the cutest little family and they are sooo interested. They ask questions and are really sincere. Hermano R was with us again and he is really personable and was tickling all the kids and the family loved him! I'm excited to see what happens with them! It was like a dream situation lol well except that I can't speak Spanish as well as I would like. And the sister who I replaced was amazing as Spanish and pretty much fluent so everyone in the branch is sad she left sooo basically they are going to hate me...joy....This morning is like part p-day because it took half of P Day yesterday to drive up here..

Good news is we have an awesome truck! Love it. I feel so awesome I live in a cabin and I have a truck. I am going to wear my flannel shirt with one of my skirts and get boots so I look like a lumber jack. I am not going to be getting ready this transfer..it's too cold. It's the first day and I already don't have any make up on and my hair is up in a wet bun...Meh there is really no one to impress lol!

I'm determined to be my comp's favorite companion and well everyone's favorite companion. I might be failing already though, I'm always playing 20 questions all day and she doesn't always fill me in, half the time I have no idea what I'm doing or who we are teaching lol! I'm pretty sure I'm going to commit a member to baptism when they have already been baptized. I have a feeling I'm going to be pretty quiet the first few weeks! Okay well that's about all.

From what it sounds like, her P-Day is Wednesday so hopefully we'll hear from her next Wednesday!
