WELL I'm training! Have my cute lil verdita with me. She's really cute and sweet I'm excited. She seems stressed and she's asked about a million and two questions in the last two hours, but she'll love Tempe. Oh her name is Hermana Hansen and yes I just had to check her tag.
This week was CRAZY. We had a Spanish training and all the missionaries from the mission that speak Spanish all came into Tempe and we had a training all day and then all of us went over and worked at the Easter Pageant, which was beautiful. Way better than the Manti pageant. I have pictures - actually I have a lot of pictures from this week because Hma B was going home so we took a ton. I’m going to miss her - she was funny. All the sisters that didn't live close to the mission home have been staying at our apartment so I feel like I haven't slept in a week. Then 3 Hma's went home so they stayed with us for 2 days as well, but it was fun. It's really weird that I just went from the youngest to one of the oldest Hermanas. Next transfer Hma O and Johnson leave and then everyone is new and everyone that I have served with will be home! Weird.
"M" got baptized! First of all - no one came because it was on Saturday morning and everyone works. We started about an hour after we were supposed to because not a single soul was there at 10. Then Bishop- the one who was baptizing her was late and didn't even know he was baptizing her! Then she tells us that she would like us to sing (Hma barker, "A" -her daughter- and I) and we don't sing, so we tricked 6 of the elders to sing with us - three of which don't know how to read Spanish. It was bad. My eyes were watering the whole time and I was dying trying not to laugh. Half of us are singing different words. It sounded nothing like the song originally goes. On top of that they kept motioning for us to step forward closer so they could take a picture of us singing, so as we are singing/screeching this song we are moving back and forward. "M" was laughing so hard. Oh man, it was funny!
SO, right before we start the baptism we say a little prayer with "M" and Hma McIntosh (her friend in the ward) in the bathroom because she was really nervous. Hma B asked that the speaker and mentions their names (hma Mcintosh being the one giving the talk on baptism) to be blessed. So after the prayer Hma McIntosh was like "I'm giving a talk? "M" told me it was the prayer?!" Luckily Hma McIntosh is awesome and she made up a talk on the spot. Anyway, just about everything that could go wrong did. BUT the good news is that the spirit made up for the rest and it worked out fine. It just made for a great memory. The English elders for the first time weren't envious of Spanish work.
"A" (her daughter) is getting baptized this Saturday so my lil' Greenie will be walking into her first baptism already, which is exciting for her. "A" hasn't been ready to talk about baptism and has had little doubts here and there. Then on Saturday we went to the Easter Pageant the second day with them and she leaned over to me and whispered "So I think I want to baptize myself next Saturday"...SWEET!
"S" wants to get baptized but he's the one who is living with his girlfriend that he has a 10 year old with. His daughter "K" also wants to get baptized. He doesn't see a future with his girlfriend but doesn't want to take "K" away from her mother. So he's been praying about what to do either get married or move out. Last night he tells me that he just found out he has to go to immigration court unless he gets married or moves to Mexico. I don't know if that is Heavenly Father forcing him to make a decision but that just added to his stress...
I love this area and the ward. We went to a lesson with one of our recent converts and he pulled out little necklaces he had bought us. That was so cute. Hma J also got us little statue angel things. I love these people!
"P" didn't drink all week! We are friends with all the drunken people around here, so we asked them to spy on "P" for us and to let us know if he drinks. He was sober all week!!! He's starting to change - it’s really exciting and the ward is starting to have faith in him too. Hma M is going to buy him a white shirt. But last night he called us up completely hammered. We went over there and tried to yell at him. He tried to kiss us; he was all over the place. Then out of nowhere he said “Wanna see my kittens?” in Spanish. We didn't know what to do because we didn't know if he was going to do something weird because he kept hitting on us. So we walk over and there are actually these CUTE lil kittens that are 3 days old! SO cute. I kept trying to take a picture and drunken "P" kept trying to pull me in. Yikes lol. - don't worry there are pictures! I'm really hoping he is actually interested in the gospel and not in us. For some reason I have faith in the kid.
Okay this letter is boring but I have no time and my greenie looks lost - soooo wish me luck. It should be fine. As long as she has a testimony it will all be just fine.
I love you!
