THIS WEEK...

Let's see... SO we got a call Friday from our new ward mission leader and he volunteered us to talk in Sacrament and to do a musical number with the 4 of us missionaries....He was so excited he was like it's going to be beautiful we will sing and there with be a piano and VIOLINS.. to Called to Serve (and asked if we knew the song-..duh we sing it 9 billion times) Called to Serve is not a song for violins not to mention no one in our ward can read music let alone play a violin..So the elders and us were laughing pretty hard. I'm glad we share a ward with the elders and can laugh at all the crazy experiences we have with this ward. We talked yesterday and we sang...singing was pretty bad. Hmo V and "J" sang with us. It was hilarious, but the best part was that the ward thought it was beautiful. It was seriously torturous. We were trying so hard not to laugh during it because Hmo V was like YELLING/singing. Pretty funny. If you would have told me a year ago that I would be giving a last minute talk and singing in sacrament in Spanish...I would not have come on a mission.
Speaking of the Elders, so there is this prank war going on between the elders and the sisters.. The sisters tagged the elders car and wrote "Just Married" and "I'm with him" all over it with cans hanging off the back... anyways its been going back and forth all transfer. They got the other sisters car with peanut butter and dirty socks and rotten food. Today we will be buying fruit roll ups and cheerios to decorate their car.
So "J" always gives us candy from this little store and this week as we were leaving a lesson he was all excited to give us something and said "These are caramels" then I looked at it and it was a roll of Halls cough drops.. but he can't read English so maybe they looked like caramels since it was in a gold package... it was cute.
We had a lot of interesting conversations and lessons this week with the whole "End of the world" fiasco. But the world is still here and now there are about 20 less people with poster signs on the streets. There was a guy that used to stand on the corner with a giant sign saying "The world will end." I wonder what he does all day now. We had a lesson with "S" and all of his questions were about the end of the world. He kept asking if we believed we could sell our souls to the devil. I tried to explain no, but if you misuse your agency then you are slowly losing your ability to make good decisions. He kept telling stories that he was convinced that you can literally sell your soul to the devil because he knows people who have done it and they have really nice cars. Then our lovely little fellowship started to agree and teach false doctrine and tell a hypothetical story that if he gave the devil a thousand dollars he wouldn't have a soul but would still have a body... THIS is why I don't like bringing fellowship!! Then we tried to jump in and clear up that NO we don't believe you can give the devil money for our souls.. After a long explanation and I started to feel like he was understanding.. Then he asked "what about "K"?(his daughter) Would I be able to sell her soul to the devil?"...... I thought i was going to pull my hair out. But it was funny.
We have this drunk guy that likes us to teach him I think I've mentioned the crazy old one that always says "la cruz" and makes a cross with his body..? He's a funny guy. Anyway he asked us to teach him as we were walking by so I let Hma H practice her Spanish with him and teach any lesson she wanted because he's drunk anyway.. She taught the entire gospel in Spanish and at the end asked "Did you understand my Spanish?" He said "Not really but it's okay.. When can you guys come back?" The best part is that he likes to pet Hma H because she has blond hair..so while she is talking he is petting her and saying "Rubio".. Poor Hermana H. But it was really funny!
We are going to have a baptism soon.. we just met this girl that wants to be taught in Spanish but she is going to the English ward. She already knew she wanted to get baptized so she is fun to teach. As for our ward all of the rest of our investigators need to get married! We talked to the boyfriend of one of our investigators and asked him how he felt about marriage considering he has been with her for 15 years, they have 2 little girls, a trailer and car together... he said he didn't want to make that kind of commitment on the off chance he decided to cheat on her or is tempted by another woman...seriously. He said this all while sitting next to her..she didn't even react..? I don't get it.

But this is the situation for about 5 of the people we are teaching.. JUST GET MARRIED!!!!!!! Really frustrating.
So that was this week in a nutshell..
Well I love you!
