My Mom got a letter in the mail, and while I was gone all last week and didn't write anything for Kaitlyn to write back to...I still feel the urge to check my mailbox. If there's a letter there, I'll be sure to share it. Until then, here's my Mom's:
Mom!
P-day went really fast today. I spent a lot of it answering questions from letters. I'm pretty spoiled in terms of letters. I get a few everyday. Letters make the day so much better. They give me a little lift when I need it most. I'm lucky I have so many good friends and a big family.
I never remember what I write in the email so I'll try not to repeat. This week was good. I'm half way there! Spanish is coming slowly. I only notice the progression when we talk to the missionaries who came the week after us. They just left to Guatemala today though, so I guess I'll track my own progression now.
I'm at a devotional right now. We keep getting people from the 1. Quorum of the Seventy, no apostles yet. Obviously we're not getting one next week either with 2. General Conference. Conference weekend should be good here. I'm just glad we don't have any more 3. Fast Sundays here! We're used to eating all the time, so a real 24-hour fast is rough. Especially because we get up at 6 am! It wouldn't be as bad if we could sleep in, but napping is like a sin here. I happen to be good at that sin. I've never been so tired in my life!
On Thursday, President Littlefield (the Stake President from my singles ward in Orem) taught the LGM (Large Group Meeting). He was so funny. Everybody loved him. He pumped us up. He kept calling me out - I was glad he recognized me. It was pretty packed. He said he would tell 4. Bishop Mella "Hi" for me.
Its weird that all day I'm studying how to simplify the gospel so I can teach it, but in the process of simplifying, I'm learning the deeper doctrine behind it. There is so much to this gospel - I had no idea. You should get a 5."Preach my Gospel" for yourself. It's not just for missionaries - its very good. It makes you think more in depth about the simple stuff we take for granted. Plan of Salvation = really hard to simplify and not sound crazy...and then we have to convert it into Spanish! We've never taught in English so hopefully my mission is strictly Spanish because I don't have any practice in English.
Lets see - we get new roommates tomorrow. I'm not so excited because we like having the room to ourselves, and a lot of sisters are weird and we're going to have to babysit them now.
You are the best at packages! I'm pretty sure my companions get annoyed whenever I get packages. I really love you! The letters and packages are the little reminders that get me through the moments I want to quit or I'm overwhelmed. Gym is good for that too. I like running. It clears my head and I get away from everything for a second. It makes me feel better about all the food we're eating. The only problem is that gym is at a different time every day so it's annoying to get all sweaty and then have to get back into church clothes.
I'll send you back sweaters before I leave the MTC. I doubt I'll need them in Arizona if it's 103 degrees at night. And if I meet a cockroach and there are bugs in my sink, expect me on the next flight home. NO BUENO! NO CHEVERE!! (not cool)
First thing I'm going to do (when I get to Arizona) is dye my hair. Its driving me insane. I didn't cut it - I heard too many bad stories. I figure I'll let it grow out and thicken up in the meantime and get it dark and healthy.
I know it's only been 4 weeks, but I look homely. Any extra five minutes I could use to get ready are five minutes I could be sleeping! I've never fallen asleep so fast in my life! My head hits the pillow and I'm OUT! I'm still not all the way better yet. I've managed to get a cough, but all the medicine has helped a lot.
Well my hand really hurts and I'm guessing you can barely read this.
Love,
Kaitlyn.
P.S. On a spiritual note, here is my "mensaje" (message) I've been giving in Spanish. We have to go do contacts around campus. Elaine Dalton gave us this scripture: 6. Moses 6:34. It applies to us here, but it also applies to everyone. I just like the "Walk with me" part.
