Email: Week 5

This is Kaitlyn's email this week!

Hola!

Week 5!!!!!!

Okay so this week was pretty good I think. Conference was super relaxing Saturday and Sunday, we didn't have class or anything, we just had MDT (missionary directed time where you can choose what you want to study.) and then conference in the gym. We tried to do MDT in our room and we all started studying on our beds and about 5 seconds later we were all passed out. Sooo we probably weren't super effective or diligent but it was needed.

We had kind of an exciting week, well for the MTC. So Friday nights we have gym and night and we call it "Friday Night Lights," because the soccer field is lit up. When it was warmer we would make an event of it, but we like Friday nights because after gym we don't have to get ready again. We get done 45 minutes earlier that night too. You will get pictures of our Friday Night but first let me explain: We have these Elders in our zone who we always hang out with and the other day they were all surrounded around the camera giggling like little kids. They wouldn't show us the pictures and they were all embarrassed. Finally we saw and they were pictures of them having light saber fights - LOL. It really looks like they have light sabers and they wouldn't tell us how they made them! The pictures were hilarious. So Friday night we decided to recreate our own light saber fight - LOL! Don't judge! The funny part was that we had time to read before we went to bed and we never have time to read whatever we want. As we were reading at about 9:45 and getting ready to fall asleep early all of us said "This is the best Friday night ever!!" and then we realized how lame we were for thinking that just because we got to read and go to bed early...sad...triste. (sad)

Usually we get out of class at 9:30 and we have to be asleep by 10:30 but that hour flies by. So Saturday night we were all hanging out with our usual little group of my two companions and the solo Italian Sorella and we were being weird and laying in the hall, goofing around when the fire alarm goes off. It took us a little too long to figure out what it was. We started smelling smoke too. So we're in our pajamas and the MTC is pretty strict about what you wear outside of the residence hall. So for a minute we couldn't decide if we should grab skirts and then we thought, "No, duh, if its a fire they won't care, we just need to get out of here." So we leave the room and start heading down the stairs to go outside and we realize we don't have NAME TAGS. So we book it back up the stairs to get them!! Heaven forbid if there had been a real fire and people didn't know my name was Hermana Norton from La Inglesia de JesuCristo de los Santos de Los Ultimos Dias. I thought that was funny, the one thing we go back to get is a freaking name tag. Anyway we went downstairs and the 3rd floor under is smoky and the whole building reeks of burnt popcorn - LOL. So all the sisters in the whole MTC are in building 17 on floors 3 and 4 and all the other buildings are Elders. They were all laughing out their windows at us...so we took pictures. You will see, one day when we actually have time to develop them.

We got new roommates this week, one of them is super interesting, she is from Sandy. She was adopted along with her twin brother. Her father passed away when she was a baby and her Mom is a nurse. The other sister is from Wyoming. She snores - LOL.

What else? Oh, we got 4 Elders shoved into our district. The rest of their district left to Mexico two weeks ago, but their visas still haven't come in, so they have been here 11 weeks. So they are with us until the visas come through. Visas are a huge problem here. A lot of people don't get them and just get reassigned. There are probably about 100 missionaries waiting for visas in the MTC right now. They won't temporarily reassign you until you've been were 15 weeks too. That is a really long time in the MTC, so we feel bad for them. Luckily the 4 Elders we got are cool. We like having them. It was awkward when it was just my companions and the other threesome companionship of Elders. Everyone in my district is going to Washington except me. They all got Washington State shirts so I got an Arizona one. They have to pray separately for me. It's kind of random that I got stuck in this district, I don't know how they pick districts, but I'm glad. I've seen a lot of districts that if I had been in them, I probably would have wanted to come home the second day.

I LOVE AND MISS YOU ALL!!!!!

Love,

Kaitlyn
