Letter 11/22

This is probably going to be a shorter letter. I want to take a nap.

You asked about President H. He’s really cool and down to earth. He has a funny sense of humor. He’s really into manners, and so is Sister H. The first two days they kept getting mad at me for opening my own door and not waiting for it to be opened for me. Sister H is very lady-like. She was my companion those first two days and she liked it because she had someone to talk to. President H is always busy and on the phone. I got to know them really well because I couldn’t be alone with the Elders. So I was always with President & Sister H. He kept racing the Elders and cutting them off and speeding past them trying to get them to race. Sister H kept telling him to grow up. He’s funny.

They drove up here for zone conference yesterday. They’re pretty protective of the greenies though. It’s funny. Oh ya, my branch calls me their “Verdesita”, which means “little greenie.”

I will send pictures when I take them. I will try this week to take some, maybe get some Thanksgiving too. I’m sure the whole branch will be there, like always.

Oh, in my email I forgot to tell you about another investigator. She’s 22 and has 2 kids. We went to check up on her the other day because she's having a hard time. Her dog was hurt and she was crying and had a bad day. Half joking I asked her if she needed a hug and she was like actually yeah, I don’t have any friends. We went back again yesterday for a lesson and she told us we were her best friends. We are trying to find her a friend in the branch who has small kids like hers so she’ll come to church. We’ll see what happens with her. She’s very receptive to the gospel. She said she’s learned more from us that she’s ever learned in the church she grew up in from their Father. She prayed yesterday too, which was good, and said it makes sense God and Jesus are different people. We’re excited to see what happens with her.

One investigator, I respect her. She’s looked into tons of religions. She fought with us about Joseph Smith last week but last night she had a change of heart or something. She was so nice and participated and loved the Plan of Salvation. She asked when we’d be back. We’ll see what happens with her. I know she felt the spirit last night.

Part of me wants to get transferred down to Tempe where it’s warm next transfer, but I really feel connected to the people here and I want to see them through. We have a billion challenges, but we have a lot of good stuff going on right now.

I’m pretty sure I’m going to be here another transfer. There are only four areas where the Spanish Sisters can go. My companion stayed in Gilbert 10 months. Since there are only 8 Spanish Sisters, I have a feeling I’m not going anywhere. Plus I think I’m supposed to be with these people right now. I just wish these people and this branch lived in the warmer part of Arizona.

Love, Me
