Buenas dias familia…

Spiritual or funny?

Funny first:  Well this wasn't funny at the time but now it is.  When we got to the area they gave us a name of a few less active members and told us all their stories.  One of them they told us about had this "experience" where while one of the missionaries about a year ago was bearing their testimony. This member stood up and was "taken over by the spirit" and starting yelling and convulsing and passed out and they had to carry her out of the chapel...and ever since she was embarrassed and didn't want to come back.  (Side note: I heard about this lady last year when I was in another area)  But they gave us so many names I forgot who was who.  So we went and visited this Sister “O” and she starts telling us she wants to come back to church and that she had a dream. She said that she was doing missionary work and felt the spirit so strong and she asked us if that was how we felt doing missionary work.  We said of course...and she asked if she could come with us to a lesson one time to see.  So we were all excited that not only did she want to come back to church but she wanted to do missionary work!!!

SO we bring her to a lesson with this investigator “J” who is awesome.  Before we go into the lesson, “O” is like “Don't worry I'll just bear my testimony and let you guys teach”.  So we thought “SWEET this lady is awesome.”  ...haha noo...no no no…   We walk in and “J” has all these questions. The last lesson we had with him we committed him to read and pray to know if the church was true and explained how his answer from the spirit would be SIMPLE.  So “O” jumps in and starts talking about how she knows things are true because of the visions and dreams she has.  The next 2 hours we can't get control of the lesson and all she is talking about is how she is "chosen" to receive visions and dreams by which she receives revelations.  How his answer might take YEARS to come to him if he isn't chosen like her? YEP…and so she's telling all her dreams and visions in detail and “J” is just soaking it all up.  OH and the best part was after she would say something crazy and the end she would say "and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ"… she said that like 6 times.   ahhhhhhh sooo baddd!!!   So I'm freaking out and trying to do damage control and pretty much telling “O” to shut her mouth and telling “J” that everything she is saying isn't true. You probably will not have God come sit on the edge of your bed, the spirit will be gentle.  But then she would interrupt again and go off on another story…ahhh.  Hermana K doesn't understand a word either of them is saying so she can't help. So nightmare lesson, and “J” was all freaked out by the end and wouldn't commit to come to church...

So after we get out of the lesson and drop “O” off I call the ward mission leader and he is like yep “O” is the one who had the freak out in church....AWESOME. That would be our luck haha.  So we have a lot of damage control to do with “J”...I love crazy members.
The "don't marry an idiot" theme continues...

This week we went to the temple and this English member took us and the English sisters. So the car ride to the temple she breaks down and starts telling us about her rocky marriage and mean husband.  Meanwhile I think everyone of us in the car was thinking “I’m never ever, ever getting married’. I don't know what Heavenly Father is trying to teach but it's not working.

So after the temple we had a training in Tempe for the greenies to check on them, which was perfect timing because Hermana K had a rough night the night before. We went and got ice cream and told her to get a blessing from President Howes the next day.
We went and talked to President and he pulled us in his office (I love President...he is like a father) he calmed her down and gave her the a blessing. It was so cool how dead on he was, it just showed how much Heavenly Father knows Hermana K.  It was crazy. The priesthood is amazing. It was cool. Afterward Pres talked about how much he loved his wife… which we needed to hear after the crazy drive up to the temple.  Pres and Sister Howes are perfect and they love each other so much and it's so clear.  He starts crying whenever he talks about her. It's adorable.
BUT the cool part was after he asked me what I thought about our area and asked my opinion what he should do next transfer! He is thinking about giving all Spanish areas a few English wards on top of their Spanish ward.  That is because Spanish work is slowing down now that everyone is moving because of the laws that are being passed here.  Half our investigators have been deported - it's horrible. I just want to be busy and have people to teach.  It’s miserable when you don't have anything to do.  So I’m guessing next transfer we are picking up 2 English wards.

Last- “L” got baptized and I got permission to go to Tempe and see it! He wanted me to say a talk, but luckily I just had to say the prayer. We taught him for almost 8 months and he finally got baptized!!  SO exciting!!! It was so fun to see my old ward. They were excited to see me too. It was cute and I felt like a celebrity. I miss my little family there pretty bad.

I love you!
