Email 11/7/11

I miss snow. It's raining today though! And it’s starting to cool down a lot. The weather dropped out of nowhere. The sad thing is we are so used to it being over a hundred our bodies have all acclimated and my teeth start chattering when it's 70 degrees.

Um there really isn't much to report this week. It was a really hard week. We have like 0 investigators and finding people who are ready out here is like finding a needle in a haystack. We still haven't found anyone that is ready. It’s been so hard not to get discouraged this week because everything that could went wrong. I don't know why this area is so hard. Plus we live with the English sisters who have 4 really successful wards who call them every five seconds to say "Oh hey I have a friend that wants to get baptized can you teach them real quick?"...We try not to be bitter. But seriously what the heck? That never happens in Spanish work. haha I’m frustrated.

“R” and “D” are still yo-yoing back and forth. We had to move back their baptism to this next weekend because “D” drank coffee.”D” is really frustrating. Her husband and son are so strong and ready to get baptized they were discouraged we moved it back. “D” won’t do her part. She wont read and she keeps "forgetting" to pray. We call the woman everyday. I'm really running out of ideas for her. It’s hard to get her excited about anything. But “R” wants to wait until she's ready for them to get baptized.. It could be forever.

So Sundays we go to our Spanish ward for 3 hours and then right after we go to an English ward with “R” and “D” another 3 hours. YESTERDAY was crazy. “B” is 6 and he's their other son. He’s got some kind of condition, there’s a feeding tube. Just lots of behavior stuff which make sitting hard and hard for the parents to control him.. In the middle of the sacrament he started jumping up and screaming he threw his feet up in the air and started kicking around. They were holding him down by all fours and he just screamed and screamed. They finally took him out and he came running back in yelling to the whole ward "I ESCAPED".... it was funny. But it wasn't... cuz he did it like 3 times.

Gospel principles in the English ward is always an adventure. This elderly lady like seriously 80 plus teaches the class. She says the craziest things and never sticks to the lesson. I wan to hijack the lesson so bad but she's old and I feel bad. But she makes me so uncomfortable for “R” and “D”. She asks them the weirdest questions. Yesterday the lesson was supposed to be on the atonement. Out of nowhere she asks..."Do you think spirits can feel?" We all looked around a little confused where that came from. And then she reached her hand in front of “R”s face and said, "Do you think they can touch one another?"..."Just something to think about." .........WHY IS THAT SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT?! She also talked about how she went on a mission in Australia 1 million years ago and she looked at me and asked when I was going home. I told her and she said, "It's going to be just awful. You will hate it. Your Stake Pres will take away your tag and you will never feel the spirit again like you do now. It's just awful. The worst feeling in the whole world. You wont have a purpose. You will just hate life for a while...Just something to think about..."

What the heck? But seriously while she was talking my stomach dropped. Ugh.

Basically it was a hard week. We are battling to keep our family on date. Struggling to find prepared people...but meanwhile we are just trying to have fun. Luckily I love my comp and we laugh a lot and have fun being weird. Sometimes when our OYMS (street contacts) are really cranky and don't wan to listen my comp tries to make it as awkward as possible and ask if we can say a prayer with them. She loves awkward situations. It's actually been pretty funny. It would make you (Mom) sooo uncomfortable. Jessa too. But this is the only time where you can do stuff like this just walk up to someone and start talking to them about Jesus. It’s so awkward when you think about it. And sometimes it really is just painfully awkward. But every now and then we have really cool experiences and have cool conversations with people or can actually help someone. Good times.

Okay well sorry this is boring and kind of negative...

Love YOU
